Where he fits
Jake Bates plays for the DET as a K, wearing number 39. He's in year 4 of his career.
His job: The team's own depth chart lists him first at place kicker — that's the order they'd normally use.
Last time out: He was active but didn't record any counting stats. He was only on the field for about 0% of the offensive plays, so he is a situational piece right now.
He isn't on the official week 8 injury report — no designation was filed for him.
Official league data, week 8 of the 2026 season.

How his team's doing: DET are 4-2 this season — meaning they've won 4 of the games they've played. They're number 3 in their division right now. Current run: W2.
From the shared sports feed, refreshed within the last few hours. Nothing on the injury report for him — or we can't verify it right now, in which case we leave it out.
